The art of Guo Peng

The artist Guo Peng

Born in Pi Zhou City, Jiang Su Province, China in 1980. Guo Peng graduated in 2004 from the School of Fine Arts in Nanjing Normal University. In that same year, he held his first solo calligraphy and painting exhibition.

The artist’s mentors includes Professor Ma Shi Da, Fan Yang, Zhou Yu Feng, Wang Ji An and Chang Han Ping. He became the artist of the Jiang Su Imperial Art Academy in 2005. His artistic painting style is influenced by Chinese art maestros, Bada Shanren, Qi Baishi and Lin Fengmian.

His successful artistic career is attributed by his skillful development in the style of painting by synthesising Chinese traditional style with Western expressionism comprising simple but strong brush-strokes and lines, evoking emotional and visual impact. It is this impact that glorifies the significance of the artist’s works, vis a vis, his artistic journey.

Guo Peng once said, “ With my strong foundation in Chinese Calligraphy, I have developed the expressive line that is evident in my works”.
